Curiosity lands on Mars

PASADENA, California.

In a the most amazing landing ever, NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) landed a car sized rover on the planet Mars. The journey from Earth to Mars lasted over 8 months.

The landing was achieved by using The Sky Crane – lowering the rover at the end of 25-foot-long cables from a hovering rocket stage.

The rover is named “Curiosity” and the mission is to search for evidence that Mars could have hosted life! It will also study the possibilities for human exploration.

Would you be the first human to go to Mars?

Curiosity carries 10 science instruments. Some of the tools are the first of their kind on Mars, such as a laser-firing instrument for checking rocks’ composition from a distance.
